pahlaj nihalani president, association of motion pictures & tv programme producers on the complaints of producers against various artistes. manisha koirala's secretary the late ajit dewani had reportedly allotted her dates to another producer and is believed to have refused to honour that commitment. the producer has approached the amptpp for intervention.what do you have to say about this? we have found out from manisha that there have been occasions in the past when the producer failed to use her dates as he could not arrange funds for the shoot. whenever there is a long gap between shooting schedules, there are chances of a misunderstanding developing. however, if the producer is currently in a position to complete his film, manisha will definitely cooperate. how do you handle complaints against film stars? whenever we receive a complaint against a film star, we send a notice to the other party asking for an explanation on their stand in the case. let me inform you, we have a joint dispute committee which looks into each and every complaint in an unbiased manner so that the interests of both parties are taken into consideration. simply put, we evaluate the merit of each case before coming to a conclusion. what about john abraham's refusal to allot dates to pla enterprise? the producer wants john abraham to sign a letter to the effect that his film will be john's very first release. john is willing to give the dates, but does not agree with this particular clause. the problem here is that he is not a member of the cine & tv artistes association (cintaa). but do you agree that film artistes hold the upper hand when it comes to a dispute? admittedly, the artistes rule the industry. but the fact is that they can hold the upper hand only while dealing with individual producers. when cases are dealt with at the association level, each and every member has to abide by the decision or verdict passed.
